Leprechauns

leprechauns. A mythical creature. Short, amazing and gold obsessed. I, personally, love leprechauns! I don't really know why, but I have this weird obsession with them. My favourite mythical creature. They are short, as said above, orange hair, green clothes and they always have the luck of the Irish with them. (Haha see what I did there, luck of the Irish, they're Irish...) you can never catch them without a freshly picked four-leafed clover. They usually wear a green top hat with a black ribbon and a four-leafed clover sticking out of the ribbon. A tuxedo, fit to their standereds. The tux is green and has a white under shirt. They are always in touch with nature, which is where their magical powers come from; so they always have a flower tucked inside the chest pocket of their jacket. The flower they have in their pocket determines the type of leprechaun they are. Where they came from. The normal ones, the ones who come from Ireland, are usually pink. The rest vary. Leprechauns are a magical creature that should not be made fun of. Just the other day I was watching T.V and the commercial for "Finding Bigfoot" came on. I, myself, am not a believer. (No offence to those who are) so I smiled to my mom and said "if they can make a living from finding a creature like Bigfoot I should make a television show that is called 'Finding Leprechauns'" we had a good laugh on it and had fun with it. Now, I think this is long enough to say (even though I could rant about them all day) that's all folks!!!!! Smell ya later, :)

RACISM

So in class we're writing about certain topics and whether we agree or disagree that subject. I chose racism, and frankly, what I found in my research is a lot more then I would've expected. I strongly agree that police are racist and shoot black people too readily.

From 2010 to 2012 the 1,217 police shootings caught in the federal data show that teenage black people were killed at a rate of 31.17 per million, but only 1.47 per million teenage white people died at the hands of police. In 2012, 91% of the people killed by police in Chicago were black, 87% in New York and 100% in Sagina and Rockford.

Recently a police officer shot an unarmed 18 year old boy tell death. On other news, an unarmed father of six children got choked to death (an illegal chokehold) on camera, by a police officer, while he pleaded that he could'nt breath. Then, got no indictment.

Well, if these statistics do not prove to you that this is racist. I would like to say that this is your decision on how you look on this situation. I, however, strongly agree that police are racist and shoot black people too readily.

CANADA

Canada... People want to know what it's like in Canada. Well I don't really know what to write... Canada is cool, I guess... Lots of trees and nature. And it's pretty awesome to have a lake a block away from your house... You don't have to worry about someone pulling a gun on you either, since, you know, guns aren't just given out around Canada... Appearently Canada is the safest country in the world... So I would describe Canada as a country with freedom, but not too much freedom (meaning you can't run around with a grenade and a rifle shooting at innocent people), nature filled and a little too much snow filled place. Not really important... But I always spell Cananda or Canana instead of Canada, sounds and looks easy to spell... And it is, just annoying to type... Anyways... To Canada... And beyond!!!!!!!

Here is my picture story for Canada,

SAM'S PARAGRAGH

Sam stared cross-eyed at the kids in the cafeteria. Watching silently, staring past his best, and only friend, Kaila, to look at the teenagers eating, drinking, and having contests to see who can throw what trash in the garbage. Kaila blabbed on about her Art assignment as he turned to stare her in the eyes.
"-Sam... They're staring at us... They're probably making fun of us again," she looked down, suddenly not in the mood to talk. Sam felt mad, but kept it in control as he put a rough, calloused hand on her shoulder,
"Hey, it's okay... They can't find anything better to talk about so let them talk about us, look at us... We're practically stars" he smiled reassuringly. She smiled back and started talking again. 'I don't understand why it matters if people makes fun of us... ' he thought blowing his smooth, black hair out of his face.

He pulled his gloved hands out of his pockets and checked the time, "Sorry Kaila, I gotta go in for my sister, I need to pick her up for her dentist appointment," he bit his lip, picked up his bag and ran. He ran a couple blocks down to his sisters middle school, suddenly stopping as he spotted his seven year old sister with her teacher. Strolling into his siblings view, her teacher walked inside nodding to him. Mika, his little sister, screamed as she ran up to him. He chuckled and got down on one knee opening his arms, embracing her in a warm, brotherly hug.
"Sammy!!!" She giggled as he stood, lifting her feet high off the dirty ground. He chuckled and put her on the ground,
"Come on Mika, time to go to the dentist so they can clean those tiny teeth of yours," he picked her up and put her on his shoulders as some guys from his school passed. They gave him a weird look and he glared at them harshly. Turning around as if Sam and his sister can't hear them, they start talking about 'Sammy'.

"Sammy? What are they saying about you? Why are they talking about you?" His sister commented as they calmly walked past them.
"That's simple, Mika, I'm a star. They can't think of anything else to talk about, because I'm just so awesome and spectacular!" He over-exaggerated 'awesome' and 'spectacular'. The boys glared as they walked away,
    "Sammy?"
   "Hm?"
"What does spectacular mean?" Mika asked with a curious face. Sam chuckled and reach his arm up to ruffle her hair.
"Kid, the definition of spectacular is me. Your awesome and charming big brother."

Mika giggled, then laughed. Sam joined her. They then walked down the street laughing ignoring the rude comments made to them.

MINDSET

Mindsets. The thing that can be changed so easily. With just a single sentence it could change a childs life. Carol Dweck, a Stanford University psychologist came up with the whole idea of mindset. she says “For no matter what your ability is, effort is what ignites that ability and turns it into accomplishment," I, personally find this really inspiring. Actually, her, herself is really inspiring. She is inspiring as a person and has founded something very important.

There was a study in which Dr. Dweck found out that whether a person has a fixed or growth mindset, depends on the way you are praised. In this study with Claudia Mueller,400 fifth graders in 12 different New York City schools were examined. She gave them a rather easy puzzle in which half of them gained a praise for their smarts, the other half praised for their efforts.

These students were then asked if they would rather either the easy or hard puzzle.90% of students praised for effort chose the harder set of puzzles for the next test, worked hard to figure out the puzzles, were interested in understanding their mistakes, and on a subsequent test showed an average 30% improvement. Those who werepraised for smarts mostly chose the easier set of puzzles, were easily discouraged, on a subsequent test saw their scores drop by an average of almost 20%.

ABOUT ME

Hello, I am a 13 year old girl who loves art and wishes to one day be an artist. I absolutely obsessed with art, like I already wrote, and many other things. Things like the colour blue, leprechauns, creepy pasta, scary stuff, horror movies, anime (like Naruto) and video games. I dislike bullies, vegetables, liars and pink. My besties are Abigal, Sierra, Jeweliette and Deanna. Oh... My name is Angel-lee, I do not have a middle name and I live in Canada. I love bands like Skillet, My Chemical Romance, Nickleback, Vocaloid, so... Basically the heavy metal stuff... I, however, like my choice in music. I love the fresh air, which is why i go for walks every night with my dog. I have two cats, Kat and Jewelz, had two dogs, Mickey and Cody (I said had cause Cody died from old age). I had a snow, cornsnake named Jocker and a bird named Askem, both of which we sold. My favourite subject in school is Art (obviously), but I have a weird thing for BEDMAS. My favourite mythical being is a leprechaun. Did you know that a pegasus is a male unicorn? My favourite animal is a dog, if I had to pick a favourite breed... It would be a cute little Husky. My favourite season is Summer... Duh...
I will now end this with a simple saying.... MINE TURTLES!!!!! No, that wasn't it.
I. Like. Trains. *Chugga chugga choo choo!!!* AHHHH
